Status: Full-Time
Help Us Bridge the Gap in Healthcare Access
Are you a detail-oriented problem solver who loves checking all the boxes and closing
all the loops? Do you want to use your organizational skills to ensure patients get the
specialty care and diagnostic tests they need?
Winding Waters Community Health Center is looking for a Health Advocacy
Specialist. In this pivotal role, you will be the "air traffic controller" for patient care that
happens outside our clinic walls—managing outgoing referrals, coordinating imaging
orders, and safeguarding patient medical records.
About Winding Waters: We are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and
Patient-Centered Medical Home dedicated to improving the health of our communities
in Wallowa County. We believe in Accountability, Collaboration, and Empowerment.
When you join us, you join a team that cares deeply about providing high-quality,
compassionate care to everyone who walks through our doors.
What You Will Do: As a Health Advocacy Specialist, you will be part of a small team
ensuring that administrative hurdles never stand in the way of a patient's health. Your
core responsibilities will include:
● Referral Management: Process and track outgoing referrals to specialists. You
will be the link between our providers, insurance companies, and external clinics
to ensure patients are seen promptly.
● Imaging Coordination: Manage orders for X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and more.
You will handle prior authorizations and help patients understand where and
when to go for their tests.
● Medical Records Stewardship: Serve as the guardian of patient privacy. You
will process Release of Information (ROI) requests and ensure incoming records
are accurately filed into patient charts.
● Patient Advocacy: Troubleshoot barriers like insurance denials or scheduling
conflicts, ensuring no patient falls through the cracks.
● Data and Scheduling Support: Actuate daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly
reporting and scheduling workflows to ensure our teams are fully informed.
