Care Access Specialist
Position Title: Care Access Specialist Location: Winding Waters Medical Clinic - Enterprise, Joseph, & Wallowa Reports To: Care Access Team Manager Position Type: Full-Time Position Wage: $18.50+ DOE Position Summary: The Care Access Specialist (CAS) helps support patient access and provides an exceptional patient experience through courteous, professional, and patient-centered interactions. Responsibilities: Registration/Check In/Check Out/Open and Closing: o Greet patients and confirm or update registration information. o Copy and update insurance and prescription cards in the EPIC system. o Enter required phone numbers for prior authorization of procedures. o Assist patients with completing forms for uncovered services and self-pay. o Obtain and update FPL information yearly. o Verify insurance eligibility daily for scheduled patients. o Schedule patient appointments accurately and manage walk-in patients using the Urgent Care workflow. o Complete check-in and check-out processes, including handling payments, making follow-up appointments, and managing patient recalls. o Review appointment notes for necessary documents and address any past due account balances or co-pays. In-Basket Management: o Review and manage CC’d charts, RX responses, MyChart messages, and other follow-ups from providers. o Address patient financial inquiries or direct them to the Patient Account Manager. Telephone Encounters/MyChart: o Direct calls to appropriate providers or create telephone encounters for team review. o Communicate with patients via MyChart while ensuring confidentiality. Patient Care: o Make reminder calls for upcoming appointments and send reminder letters or messages. o Mail patient letters as directed. Winding Waters Clinic - Care Access Specialist Job Posting Updated 07/09/2024 Additional Duties: o Prepare next-day morning huddle materials and provider schedules. o Prepare Well Child Packets with appropriate materials. o Assist with cleaning rooms/areas as requested by the OSHA team. o Print daily reports of ER/Hospital admissions, arrange follow-ups, and communicate with the appropriate provider and team. Qualifications: Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred. Proficient in using Electronic Health Records (EPIC experience is a plus). Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality. Ability to multitask and handle a variety of administrative and patient-facing responsibilities. Why Join Us?
