Position Summary: Winding Waters Clinic is seeking a dependable, professional, and experienced full-time Billing Specialist to join our dedicated team in Enterprise, Oregon. This position will play a crucial supporting role to ensuring accurate information flow and efficient resolution of billing-related matters, primarily for dental services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of insurance coverage, patterns, and experience using payer portals to verify benefits. As well as, excellent communication skills, experience in an FQHC setting, and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, specifically OCHIN Epic. Responsibilities: ● Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile accounts as needed. ● Assist patients with billing inquiries, predeterminations, and payment plans. ● Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits. ● Process and distribute daily mail - generate billing reports as needed. ● Prepare ABN’s and flag patient accounts for uncovered services ● Work closely with the front office and clinical staff to ensure accurate patient documentation within OCHIN Epic. ● Prepare and issue Good Faith Estimates (GFEs) for services upon patient request or for all uninsured/self-pay patients, especially for dental-related visits. ● Monitor/assist with work queues (hold statements, pre-collections, provider holds, etc.) ● Serve as a key point of contact and liaison between WWC, patients, and the third-party billing company regarding claim processing and inquiries. ● Assist the third-party billing company with gathering necessary documentation or information for claim submission or insurance payment posting. ● Follow up on complex or escalated outstanding claims and work collaboratively with the third-party billing company to resolve denials or discrepancies. ● Maintain knowledge of current billing procedures, CPT/CDT codes (where applicable) ● Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality. Qualifications: ● A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a certification or degree in a related field is preferred. ● Minimum of 1 year of experience in billing and collections, ideally in an FQHC setting. ● Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. ● Thorough understanding of dental terminology, procedures, and CDT coding for GFEs ● Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, OCHIN Epic preferred. ● Knowledge of insurance payer rules, regulations, and claim submission processes. ● Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and excellent patient service. ● Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating effectively with both internal staff and external partners. ● Experience working in an FQHC environment is a plus. ● Knowledge of sliding fee scales and other FQHC-specific billing practices is a plus.
