What You Will Do

Wallowa Valley Center for Wellness is seeking a highly compassionate individual who loves making a difference in the lives of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness in our residential facilities. In this vital role, you will be a part of a tight-knit team that works to ensure each and every person in our care lives their best life and reaches their goals. You will work closely with the resident's healthcare team to ensure they are meeting their wellness goals. This could include distributing medications, taking them to medical appointments, encouraging health behaviors, and driving them to scheduled visits. The skills you will use to support them will vary depending on the needs of that individual. You will provide comprehensive, whole-person care, tailored to each individual's unique needs.

Your Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Read resident logs and other supporting documents as needed upon the start of a shift and record all appropriate entries consistently during and before the conclusion of the shift
  • Engage patients in social conversation, provide supportive listening, and encourage healthy activities
  • Establish and maintain a positive working team environment with all registered nurses, providers, and residential facility staff and treat everyone with dignity and respect
  • Participate fully in team meetings, training, and one-to-one supervision
  • Provide feedback to oncoming staff regarding resident's interactions, activities, and behaviors at the end of your shift
  • Report suspected changes in a resident condition and/or potential crisis situations to the charge nurse or floor lead
  • Remain alert and provide direct line-of-sight monitoring of residents as needed
  • Administer prescribed medications, follows physician's orders for all medications, and documents on medical charts and count sheets according to established procedures
  • Work closely with the resident's healthcare team (e.g. nurses, physicians, and counselors) to ensure their overall health is meeting their goals
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

  • A valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Required to work at any residential treatment facility if shift coverage is needed

Preferred

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Nurses Aid Certification or Medication Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain your medication aide certification
  • Or, a combination of experience and education in similar types of roles
  • Willingness to work morning shifts, swing or graveyard shifts as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral formats, including the ability to complete objective, accurate documentation in a timely, consistent manner
  • Ability to interact with individuals of various backgrounds, education levels, and socio-economic status
  • Must have basic computer skills including the ability to document in an electronic medical record, use electronic time tracking, and the ability to use Google Drive and email
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, comprehend laws, regulations, and policies, and the ability to follow such laws, regulations, and policies and report when they are being violated

The Location

The Wallowa River House is an 11-bed residential treatment facility in Wallowa, Oregon for individuals with severe physical and mental health issues. The Wallowa River House includes individual apartments or rooms, and some with full kitchens. There is a beautiful courtyard in the middle along with an outside flower and vegetable garden. This will be your primary working location. This facility provides 24/7 oversight, room and board, medication management, case management, nursing care, skills training, and activity therapy.
