Retail Store Sales Associate

The retail store sales position is responsible for providing excellent service for our customers. The duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to directing customers by escorting them to their desired product and to suggest items, advise customers by providing information on products and help customers make selections, load items for customers, build customer confidence, and offer suggestions and opinions. This position will assist customers by providing knowledge of products such as power equipment and small parts.

Essential Functions

1. Anticipate the needs of customers

2. Knowledge of products in the retail store including power equipment

3. Small parts knowledge preferred

4. Knowledge of firearms preferred but not required

5. Ability to locate products in the retail store

6. Load items out for customers, this position will also help in the feed department as needed

7. Assemble products

8. Bag, box and/or help customers out with their purchased items

9. Pleasantly work with customers to ensure satisfaction

10. Other duties as assigned

Competencies/Requirements

1. Excellent customer service skills

2. Accurate cash handling skills

3. Excellent communication skills

4. Basic knowledge of hardware store products

5. Firearm knowledge preferred

6. Attention to detail and ability to anticipate the needs of customers

7. Ability to learn point of sales system

Work Environment

This job operates in a Hardware/Feed Store setting. This role routinely stands and walks throughout the store and interacts with customers.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, see and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, assemble; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to lift items up to 50 pounds and occasionally required to safely lift items up to 100 pounds, assisted.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Shifts and days of work will vary according to the needs of the store and Department Manager. Weekend availability required.
