JOB SUMMARY:

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with departmental protocols and physician orders. This individual uses advanced imaging technology to visualize and assess internal structures of the body, including organs, tissues and blood vessels, to aid in the diagnosis of disease, injury or other medical conditions.

The Ultrasound Technologist also assists physicians with invasive procedures, ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the imaging process and contributes to the overall quality of care through accurate image acquisition and effective communication. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical skills, attention to detail and a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and clinical indications
  • Capturing, reviewing and recording images of internal organs, tissues and vascular structures for interpretation by a radiologist or physician
  • Identifying abnormalities or conditions that may require additional imaging or clinical attention
  • Preparing patients for procedures by explaining the process, obtaining medical history and ensuring proper positioning
  • Assisting physicians with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures such as biopsies, drainages or aspirations
  • Maintaining equipment, supplies and cleanliness of the ultrasound room in accordance with infection control standards
  • Accurately documenting procedures, findings and patient information in the electronic medical record 
  • Participating in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives to maintain current knowledge and best practices

Ultrasound Technologist – Job Description

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiologic Technology, or equivalent education and training required
  • Current certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required or registry eligible with the ability to obtain upon hire   
  • Current and valid Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) license with ultrasound endorsement required
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Strong knowledge of human anatomy, ultrasound physics and diagnostic imaging principles required
  • Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and performing a wide range of diagnostic procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare providers 
  • Commitment to maintaining professional competencies through continuing education and adherence to industry standards
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse populations
  • Ability to meet the physical and functional requirements outlined in the job description
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screen and reference checks

Salary Range:  $42.01 + $5.00/hr PRN + DOE
