Special Event: International Ceramic Artists at Josephy Center on May 15
A special program featuring three internationally-acclaimed ceramics artists will be held at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture, 403 N. Main St., Joseph on Wed., May 15.
The artists will show examples of their works and discuss their creative processes through the “Artist: Live and Up Front” series at the center in collaboration with the nonprofit LH Arts Project near Joseph, which offers artist in residencies in ceramics.
Featured artists include Beth Cavener of Washington State, who creates larger than lifesize animals in dramatic positions to reflect human emotions; Italian artist Alessandro Gallo who sculpts animal heads on ceramic human bodies whose settings and clothing depict all walks of life; and Kelly Garrett Rathbone whose works of mystical people and creatures combine Old Europe and modern Asian aesthetics.
All three have studied internationally and have had their works shown and collected in the U.S. and internationally. Ceramic
