About Us
NEON is a 501(c)3 nonprofit health collaborative serving Baker, Grant, Malheur, Morrow, Umatilla, Union, and Wallowa Counties in Eastern Oregon. NEON launched in 2004 from a small group of individuals who recognized the value of community collaboration in ensuring the health of our residents.
Rural Oregon communities are under-resourced, particularly in their capacity to support the health of residents. As a result, barriers to community health can be enormous—providers experience gaps in funding, technology, and training, and community members commonly have limited access to information and care. Our mission at NEON is to create a healthier Eastern Oregon. We accomplish this by reducing barriers for both residents and the systems that support their health. We make it our priority to learn and share policy, practice, and tools that will help others accomplish more. We believe that by working together, the communities of rural Eastern Oregon can move from surviving to healthy, happy, and thriving.
NEON is best known for the following:
Helping families and individuals navigate health and social services, connecting them to available health care,
Assisting with health insurance enrollment and re-enrollment in the Oregon Health Plan, Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace plans and financial assistance,
Providing training, consulting and capacity-building to help other organizations to achieve their goals,
Providing fiscal sponsorships to small community projects, and
Collaborating with local organizations to identify and respond to emerging community needs.
