Facilities Director

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Director of Facility Operations provides strategic leadership and direct oversight of
Enterprise School Districts’ custodial services, maintenance operations, and district sustainability
efforts. This role ensures that all facilities are clean, safe, energy-efficient, and operationally
aligned with the district’s goals for equity, environmental stewardship, and student success.
The Director supervises operational leaders and support staff, aligns systems and processes
across departments, and manages department budgets to ensure responsible resource
stewardship. This includes planning, monitoring, and forecasting expenditures across custodial,
maintenance, and sustainability functions. The Director plays a key role in linking day-to-day
operations with long-range facility planning, regulatory compliance, and the broader mission of
public education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
● Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of custodial services, maintenance
operations, and district sustainability initiatives.
● Align systems, processes, and protocols across departments to ensure consistent service
delivery and operational excellence.
● Develop, manage, and monitor departmental budgets; ensure responsible allocation of
resources and accurate forecasting.
● Oversee procurement, vendor relationships, and contracting for operational services and
supplies in compliance with district policy and state regulations.
● Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive preventive and corrective
maintenance program for all district facilities.
● Ensure custodial practices meet health, safety, and appearance standards across all
schools and district buildings.
● Advance the district’s sustainability goals by promoting energy efficiency, waste
reduction, water conservation, and environmentally preferred purchasing.
● Support site-based and system-wide sustainability efforts through coordination, data
monitoring, and technical guidance.
● Collaborate with the district leadership on long-range facility planning and capital
investment alignment.
● Ensure compliance with applicable building, environmental, and safety regulations (e.g.,
OSHA, ADA, fire codes).
● Use data systems and performance indicators to track work orders, monitor outcomes,
and drive continuous improvement.
● Establish and maintain strong working relationships with school leaders, district
administrators, external agencies, and community partners.
● Promote a culture of inclusion, accountability, and professionalism across all teams.

● Implement emergency response protocols for operational disruptions, severe weather, and
facility safety incidents.

REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or G.E.D required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Knowledge of facilities
maintenance fields, including heating systems/HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, grounds, asbestos,
electrical, welding, roofing and mechanical, architecture, repairs. Valid Driver’s license required.
A minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in school or other large commercial
facility management preferred. Experience managing large capital construction projects for a
commercial facility or school preferred. Experience leading meetings, making decisions and
supervising staff is preferred.
A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the five year minimum
experience described above.
