Woodlands & Watershed Festival
In recognition of our community’s valuable natural and cultural resources, the Woodlands and Watersheds Festival is a combined effort to celebrate, play, listen and learn about what makes our little corner of Oregon a wonderful place to live. Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center and Wallowa Resources combined efforts in 2017 after 11 years of the Maxville Gathering and 12 years of the Wallowa Resources' Watershed Festival. In 2023 the Nez Perce Tribe and Wallowa Valley Music Alliance joined as official partners to the event Our goal is to enhance the experience our community loves so much and make the day even more enjoyable.
The Woodlands and Watershed Festival is a chance for the community to connect with local organizations and learn about their work in a fun way. Over 25 local and regional organizations, like the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Building Healthy Families, and the Nez Perce Tribe Fisheries, participate each year. It has always been a family-oriented event, providing opportunities for all ages to learn about our county and surrounding region, through fun and engaging hands-on activities.
Festival Activities include:
- Fishing at the Nez Perce Tribe Fishing Ponds
- Live music from Buffalo Kin and other local artists
- Interactive kid activities at every booth
- Free hot dogs for kids
- Food concessions for all ages
