WC Humane Society Christmas Presents: Dog-cookie Making

HUMANE SOCIETY OFFERS CHRISTMAS DOG-COOKIE MAKING EVENT.
 
Worried about what to give the dog-lovers on your Christmas list?  How about healthy home-made treats for their pets?
 
The Wallowa County Humane Society will present a hands-on workshop on making and baking delicious, nutritious treats for Fido from 7-9 PM on December 10^th  at The Place (301 S. Lake Street, Joseph.)  Participants will not only make treats, but will also have recipes (and treats) to take home. The workshop will provide all-natural basic ingredients including organicwhole wheat flour, eggs, and olive or coconut oils, plus additional ingredients that will delight dogs.
 
Humane Society “Canine Chefs” Sherry Murphy and Ellen Bishop along with The Dog Spot Head Chef Arion Canniff and Restaurateur Amy Wolf, will provide coaching, recipes, ingredients, and equipment to turn out tasty, easy-to-make biscuits that dogs will love. Dog-biscuit-shaped cookie cutters in multiple sizes and other fun, dog-friendly shapes will be available for use, along with other baking essentials. 
 
“This should be a fun event, and great for adults and children 10 years and older,” said Humane Society Programs Coordinator Ellen Bishop.  “The biscuits are good for dogs, and will make unique gifts.”
 
Participants should bring packaging materials (plastic bags will do) to take their creations home.  They many also bring additional ingredients to add to the basic recipes and can include carob (not chocolate!!) chips, dried bananas, apples and apricots, dried seaweed, shredded carrots, dried parsley, natural (no sugar) peanut butter, canned pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, or other spices and herbs.  Please, no onions, garlic, chocolate, raisins, (toxic to dogs)or extra sugar, although a few holiday sprinkles for the tops of the biscuits would set the holiday mood.
 
There is no charge, but donations to the Wallowa County Humane Society are (as always) appreciated.
