Tunesmith Night
The Saturday, January 10 concert features songwriters Katie Ludwig, Joey Carper, and Marika Straw. Doors open at 6:30pm with music starting at 7pm. Admission is $10. Beverage service available.
Katie Ludwig started writing music 13 years ago after her sister was killed in a car accident. It quickly became her passion and therapy. She performs occasionally in Moscow Idaho and the Lewiston Clarkston valley. Her sound is unique, indie folk, full of soul and sung from the heart.
Joey Carper is a shed-dwelling wizard from the mountains of Washington with reverb in his elbows. Using lyrics torn from old spell books paired with the sounds from a graphic novel, his songs will drag you to the depths of the darkest caves and the heights of the brights peaks.
Marika Straw is a queer writer, singer-songwriter, teacher, and community organizer from Wallowa County. Their intimate indie folk/pop songs for piano and voice have been described as “the sound of naked emotion.” Marika weaves music and social change work through endeavors such as ethnomusicology research on drumming and social change in India, teaching songwriting at a women’s prison in North Carolina, and creating and piloting the Rural Queer Open Mic Tour in Oregon and Washington. Since the release of their first full album, "Love, the Heartache," in 2025, three choirs have performed their song, "Dreaming of Another World," and they have been a featured artist in Aldora Britain Records' international music zine.
