The unique listening space provides an up-close and intimate experience for both audience and performers.
The Saturday, April 13 concert features Holly Sorensen, Russell James, and David Henry. Doors open at 6:30pm with music starting at 7pm. Admission is $10. Drink service provided. This edition of Tunesmith Night is sponsored by Terri Hall and Paul Flanders.
Holly Sorensen is always up for what she calls musicking. She returned to her birthplace in La Grande at age 20 and began working at the Stereo & Music store where owners Kris and Mike Mallory discovered she sang and pulled her into Kris’s band, the Wasteland Kings. She earned a Bachelor of Music with summa cum laude honors at EOU where she studied vocal performance, joined the chamber choir, performed in musicals and recitals, and worked as a tutor in the electronic music lab. Holly has enjoyed years of musicking around the region with Bag of Hammers, the Wasteland Kings, the Holly Sorensen Band, and the Depot Street Syncopators. For Tunesmith, Holly will debut as a soloist with a ukulele in hand.
Russell James is an author and songwriter from Corvallis, Oregon. Once lead singer of fabled southwestern alt-country band The Porter Draw, Russell’s music retains a simple, poetic style in contrast to his punk and hardcore upbringing. His latest release “Feel Your Pain” is available everywhere.
David Henry has been touring and playing the Northwest and beyond for the last 15 years. Cutting his teeth with groups like Jonathan Warren and the Billy Goats as well as Andrew Sheppard Band, and The Pan Handles. He started his own project David Henry Band and has enjoyed writing and performing music for the last five years with some of the best musicians Idaho has to offer. His songwriting is influenced heavily by the 60-70s folk scene as well as old school Texas and Idaho country. Melodies from the heart pushed by four chords and the truth.
