The season opens Saturday, November 11 with John Hewitt, Simone, and James Dean Kindle. Doors open at 6:30pm with music starting at 7pm. Admission is $10. Beverage service available.
John Hewitt is a modern songwriter standing on the legs of the heavy hitting inspiration before him. Taking influences from Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Van Morrison. John's music represents a student who has adapted everything he's learned from his teachers. Making Edmonton his home since 2018 he has taken the touring circuit and local scene by the reins and shows no signs of slowing down or giving up. "American Hotel" his first Alberta release was shelved due to the pandemic, but for John like many others this became the most creative time of his life. Writing and recording an additional 4 albums worth of material he celebrated in April 2022 with a sold out triple album release show at the Station on Jasper. In December 2021 John Released "Dead lovers" Which has had considerable airplay on CKUA Radio and in December 2022 released "Life Blood & Tears" which hit the top 40 on Campus and College Radio Canada wide. John tours in a number of lineups so be sure to follow this troubadours endless schedule of highways, living rooms, festivals and folk clubs.
Simone is a musician and songwriter from Portland, Oregon. She writes & performs in styles branching from deep Blues roots through Soul, R&B and Folk, with electrifying intensity & a big heart. Her current project “Songbook: A Memoir in Music” recalls a decade of the artist’s life with lyrics, sheet music, & intimate insights into her life, process, and the origins of over 50 songs.
James Dean Kindle is a singer-songwriter-performer born, raised, and residing in Pendleton, OR. As both a solo artist and with The Eastern Oregon Playboys and Swäwm Pass James has released several full length albums and singles and performed in venues and festivals across the Pacific Northwest (Treefort, Jackalope Jamboree, Electric Fences) and internationally (Japan and Germany). In 2022 James performed as one of many Johnny Cashs in the Elgin Opera House's production of Ring of Fire and performed minimalist composer Steve Reich's "Electric Counterpoint" with the Oregon East Symphony. Earlier this year, his original instrumental compositions were featured in the KUOW/NPR podcast series Ghost Herd by Northwest Public Broadcasting journalist Anna King. He is preparing for a spring 2024 release of his first full-length album since 2018, titled "Trail Mix". When James is not performing or recording he serves as Executive Director of the Oregon East Symphony
