Tunesmith Night
Tunesmith Night is held every second Saturday, October through May, this monthly showcase of original music is an opportunity for songwriters to present their work to a supportive listening audience, sharing insights with the listeners and camaraderie with their fellow tunesmiths. The show is presented in a round-robin format, with each musician playing a song, then the next taking a turn, creating an interesting and varied performance. Doors open at 6pm, music at 7pm, all ages welcome. This month features: Elwood, Al Bell and Kory Quinn.
From the Blue Mountains of Cascadia, Elwood answers the question, “What is it that moves your soul?” For Elwood it has always been the ever awe inspiring serenity and sheer power of Mother Nature and you can feel it in his music. The trickle of a small stream, the roar of a thunder cloud, the pure silence of meadow lit by the coming of the sun...it's these things that sit at the very core of Elwood's music, which he labels “All Natural Folk ‘n’ Soul.” Elwood has had the honor of sharing the stage with bands such as Simon Tucker, Tim Snider, Michael Kirkpatrick, Kory Quinn, Left Coast Country, and many more.
Al Bell is a veteran Tunesmith performer and entertainer living in Joseph, Oregon. He began writing songs when he was young and has honed his craft by attending Summer Fishtrap song writing seminars and classes over the years. Bell sings, plays guitar, and harmonica and works as a studio musician as well as live performer. With an upbeat attitude and quick wit, his musical genres include, folk, rock, blues, country, and Americana.
Kory Quinn is a compelling contemporary hobo intellectual with a refreshingly homespun take on Americana music. He has spent the last six years playing over 1200 self-booked dates on the road throughout the Pacific Northwest, West Coast, Midwest and Texas. His travels also span three international tours through seven countries, including the Netherlands, England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, and Canada. The Portland Mercury describes Quinn’s songwriting on his second full-length album, At The End of The Bar "Adroit, surefooted, and imbued with authenticity.” His newly released single Dead Man's Son has garnered attention from New York to Portland by way of No Depression website contributor Rachel Cholst, who says Quinn is "masterfully adept at making quality music."
