The Wallowa Country, 1855-1900"
“The Wallowa Country, 1855-1900” is a 4-week class on Tuesdays from 9-10:30 a.m., beginning on Feb. 19. The class will follow the Wallowa Country from the Treaty of 1855, the treaty signed by Old Joseph, until Young Chief Joseph’s last visit to the Wallowa's in 1900. This 45-year period begins with all-Indian occupation of the country and ends with the Indians gone and whites in control. Rich Wandschneider, director of the center’s Josephy Library, will present the course. The class cost is $50 and includes materials. High school students are invited to participate at no cost, and a few partial adult scholarships are available.
