Each July, the Homeland becomes a place of reunion for descendants of the original inhabitants of Walawa, the Wallowa county. Year after year, participants enjoy three days of song and dance, culminating in a Walasit service and Friendship feast. Descendants, locals ,and visitors attend together.
Free camping. RV's & tents welcome. Vendors apply online. Alcohol & drug free event!
Schedule:
Friday July 18th
7:00 PM: Roll call at the dance arbor followed by social dancing (points for participation in regalia)
**Memorial and naming ceremonies will take place on Friday and Saturday mornings.
Saturday July 19th
9:00 AM: Festivities begin with the horse procession
1:00 PM: Grand Entry, Contest and Social Dancing
7:00 PM: Grand Entry, Honoring Veterans, Contest and Social Dancing (Points for grand entry and exit participation)
