5:30 – 8:00 PM

Learn how to create bold, eye-catching designs on pottery using the sgraffito technique — carving through underglaze to reveal the clay color beneath. In this hands-on class, Jan will guide you through sketching and planning designs that work beautifully with this method. Students will carve on pre-built forms such as simple plates, mugs, or dishes, allowing you to focus on creativity and carving.

Instructor Bio:
Jan is an award winning artist and fish biologist who lives in Enterprise and tries to also make time for art. She enjoys taking ceramics classes at the Josephy center, decorates most of her projects with sgraffito, and is probably the reason the Josephy Center is out of dark blue underglaze.
