Sew a Little, Hammer a Bit
“Quilts of Valor: Sewing Bee for Our Vets” will take its third tour of duty at the Flora School Education Center, Saturday and Sunday, August 6-7, 9am to 4pm both days. During that same time frame, blacksmiths will gather for “Safety & Beauty Combined: The Blacksmith Way.”
The Flora School Education Center's sewing bee and blacksmith activities this coming weekend (August 6&7, Saturday and Sunday) have been changed to the following due to fire restrictions...
...BLACKSMITH Window grill work will be in Pomeroy at Rusty Hammer Forge from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Call Nathan for more information 509.876.7812 or Sarah at 509.876.1470.
...QUILTS OF VALOR Work on quilts for our veterans will still happen on Saturday and Sunday August 6-7 9am to 4pm. (Notice the corrected dates.)
...MEALS No Dutch oven lunch on Sunday but lunch will still be provided by donation. Cannot use the briquettes on the Dutch ovens. Potluck dinner and breakfasts are still ongoing. We will figure out how to get things cooked.
Flora is under ***NO FIRES PERIOD*** right now. We cannot even mow our lawns with a motorized/blade mower! To be honest, we really do not want another fire in "our backyard" as the Oregon Department of Forestry told Dan Thompson when he called to double check.
