“This three week watercolor class introduces stress-relief painting exercises while simultaneously increase your watercolor skills. Where else can you do two things at once?
Zen Shapes and Brush Control: Create easy patterns full of movement and color and increase your brush abilities.
Mesmerizing Color Effects and the water to pigment ratio: Simple exercises encourage you to experience uniquely watercolor properties.
Relax around the issue with Negative Shape painting: Use random color washes and templates to create reverse shape paintings.
The emotions of a place: How do you feel when you walk through a garden or along the beach – put your abilities together to create a visual memory of place. Come join us for this fun, easy class series. You might just find a perfect exercise for stress relief – and be assured – no drawing skills or prior experience is necessary for this class.”
Students who have taken a class with Crystal before are encouraged to join, while beginners are warmly welcome. This is a supportive, low-pressure environment focused on relaxation, curiosity, and creative growth—no drawing skills or prior watercolor experience required.
Adults and youth 14 and older
Minimum 5 students / Maximum 10 students
Pre-registration required.
Supplies provided for use during class; available for purchase if students wish to keep them.
Registration closes 48 hours prior to class start time.

About the instructor:
Crystal Newton’s artistic journey began at age 13 when she discovered her passion for drawing. By high school, her talent was on display at events like the Del Mar Fair, marking the start of her public art career.
In college, she pursued a degree in Graphic Design, blending her artistic skills with practical design. Encouraged by professors to further develop her fine art portfolio, Crystal’s creativity enhanced marketing materials for numerous businesses while she continued to refine her personal art.
A move to the stunning landscapes of Wallowa County, Oregon, gave Crystal the chance to fully embrace her fine art practice. She has since become known for her Plein Air paintings and her passion for teaching watercolor, sharing her love of art with others inspired by the beauty of the natural world.
