Join us for an evening of piano and violin performed by James Cook and Lisa Roberston. James Cook and Lisa Robertson will be performing a piano and violin concert at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture. There’s a $15 suggested donation fee and several silent auction items, with all proceeds going to the Josephy Center.
Lisa Robertson was born and raised in Iowa City, Iowa, and began playing the violin at age 12. She holds degrees in violin performance from the University of Iowa and Florida State University and did additional studies in Switzerland at the Zurich Conservatory and the Institute of Higher Musical Studies in Montreux. Lisa has taught violin at Florida State University, the Peter-Cornelius-Conservatory of Mainz (Germany), the University of Iowa, Walla Walla University, Eastern Oregon University, and the Academic Viennese Musical Institute of KwangJu (Korea). She was a member of professional orchestras and chamber ensembles in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria for fifteen years. She has recently retired from teaching to Enterprise while still serving as concertmaster or principal second violin for regional orchestras and as a member of the Siletz Bay Music Festival Orchestra. She is active around the Northwest as a chamber music player, music adjudicator, and officer for the Oregon Chapter of the American String Teachers Association.
James Cook graduated from high school in Walla Walla and has an undergraduate degree from Whitman College. His graduate work in piano performance was at the Julliard School and University of Southern California. He travel and performed in Europe for several years, returning to teach piano and direct music programs at Willamette University, the University of Wyoming and Boise State University. Dr. Cook has become and expert in the music of the eighteenth century, studying the repertoire and the performance practices of the music, and performing the music on the harpsichord and clavichord. He also has a large repertoire of romantic and contemporary music. Dr. Cook recently performed the Mozart Piano Concerto in C with the Oregon East Symphony Orchestra.
