NEOEDD Food Council Meeting
On February 6th, the Wallowa County Food System Council will meet in Enterprise to discuss strategic goals and priorities for the coming year. There will also be time to celebrate successful projects from last year and discuss ways to support new and ongoing projects.Anyone interested in improving the local food system is welcome to attend and get involved. The meeting will take place Tuesday, February 6th, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at Community Connection, 702 NW 1st St, Enterprise, OR 97828.
The Council is an ad hoc group of organizations, ranchers, farmers, and interested consumers with a vision of community members engaged in nurturing an equitable, local food system that promotes economic development, community development, and sustainable agriculture. Key projects from 2017 included:
- pilot of a new Magic Garden Day Camp for grade school children
- new cooking and food preservation classes at Winding Waters Clinic and Prairie Mountain Folk School
- expansion of the Head Start garden in Enterprise
- pilot of a community coop booth at the Wallowa County Farmers Market
- expansion of the Main Street community garden in Enterprise
