Lost Apple Project Information Session
Join EJ from the Whitman Historical Society to learn about the work they have done identifying and preserving lost apple varieties in our area. This event is a collaboration between The Wallowa County Beekeepers and Southfork Grange. Do you have a apple tree you’d like to have the last apple project sample? The Lost Apple Project will be accepting apple samples at this event to transport back to their team of lost apple experts. In order to be evaluated please pick 6 apples when ripe and place in a paper bag labeled, with the 1) the latitude / longitude coordinates and 2) your contact info (name, phone & email.) If there are multiple apple trees in an orchard please number and label the trees to correspond with the each bag of apple samples. Please leave a couple leaves intact to the stem. Do NOT wash, polish or otherwise alter the apples. The apples can be stored in a refrigerator or cool, dry place until dropped off with Lost Apple representative .
