Heritage Project Presentation
On Thursday, March 17, join us at Josephy Center for Arts and Culture for a potluck and discussion led by Orvalla Hafer and Myrna Journot, descendants of Promise, Oregon settlers, with Linda Bauck and Marilyn Hulse, followed by the debut of the music video "The Promise." The project Exploring our Heritage with Modern Technology, led by recording engineer and musician Bob Webb and videographer Caroline Leone, had a handful of high school students learning how to record, mix and master an original song and also storyboard, film and edit it into a finished music video. This collaboration between Josephy Center and the Music Alliance received funding from the Ford Family Foundation and the Autzen Foundation. Thursday's potluck starts at 5:30, discussion at 6:30, and afterwards all are invited to view a screening of the film "Matewan" which depicts the plight of coal mining families of West Virginia, many whom migrated west to places like Promise, to escape that life.
