Habitat Restoration Work Party
Practice your fence-building skills and enjoy the views while helping enhance riparian habitat along the Lostine River. Join Wallowa Land Trust on Friday June 13 for a day of stewardship work at the confluence of the Lostine and Wallowa Rivers on the Wolfe Ranch. We will be protecting vulnerable native trees from becoming deer treats by building small fences (exclosures) around the trees. These structures will allow the trees to grow big enough to withstand browse and will improve fish habitat along the river.
Meet at Wallowa Land Trust's office (116 South River Street in downtown Enterprise) at 9am to travel to the work site. Or meet at the old Willett Hayshed on Highway 82 (just upstream from the Spring Branch Wildlife Area) at 9:30am. Bring water, snacks and work gloves and wear sturdy boots. Families are welcome but children under 14 need to be accompanied by an adult. Rain or shine.
