Fishtrap Workshop with Lidia Yunkavitch
Fishtrap presents a workshop by Lidia Yunkavitch: The Voice is a Muscle: Writing Strategies for Finding and Building Voice in Nonfiction. How do you create voice on the page? Where is the narrative authority in the voices that we all have available within us to tell our stories? In this workshop we will explore and practice finding and building “voice” in nonfiction writing through a series of exercises that take us as close to authenticity and experience as possible.
Lidia Yuknavitch, author of acclaimed memoir The Chronology of Water and the novel Dora: A Headcase, comes to Wallowa County as part of the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture’s Women’s History Month. She teaches Fiction and Nonfiction Writing, Women’s Studies, Film Studies, and Literature at MHCC and EOU. Her novel Dora was just optioned by Kat Brooks / The Big Easy. Lidia believes, “When pulled under, kick.”
