Fishtrap Presents: Journalism: The Other Writing Genre with Paul Wahl
In an age of “fake news” and “media bias,” Wallowa County Chieftain editor, Paul Wahl teaches how journalism is done right. A 40-year veteran newspaper journalist, Wahl will teach a two-hour introductory class designed to help give writers of all abilities the tools to understand the process of journalism.
Journalism is first and foremost about telling a story based on facts and input from a variety of sources. While most people don’t think of journalism as “creative writing,” it requires thought, preparation, and creativity. This free two-hour workshop includes interviewing techniques, writing effective leads, balancing competing interest, story arc, headline writing, Associated Press style, and photojournalism. Bring a laptop or a note pad and desire to learn in a fun and interactive environment.
