Farmers' Market Vendor Symposium
The Wallowa County Farmers’ Market (WCFM) board of directors announces its annual vendor workshop on Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Fishtrap House, 400 E Grant St. in Enterprise—the perfect start to what promises to be another busy season. The symposium is free of charge.
The WCFM always encourages new vendors to participate in the Community Co-op Booth or to have their own booth, providing a unique business opportunity for local growers and artisans. The vendor symposium provides information and inspiration in the form of a keynote speaker, Eva Herold, owner of Sugar Time Bakery, and a panel consisting of existing and past vendors to answer questions about marketing, logistics, and anything else.
This year, the symposium will also be the official welcoming of the WCFM’s new manager, Emily Aumann. A 2017 Sociology-Environmental Studies graduate from Whitman College, Aumann said she worked for three years with the Whitman Glean Team, a student club that raises food insecurity awareness and encourages food donations to the Blue Mountain Action Council, totaling 35,000 pounds of produce a season.
“Food has been an important and dynamic part of my life for as long as I can remember,” Aumann says. “My mother is a public health nutritionist, gardener, cook, and general ‘foodie.’ I helped her in the garden when I was young, shopped the farmers’ market for most of my growing up, and helped in the kitchen, cooking and baking.”
The WCFM runs Saturdays from May 26 to Oct. 13, 2018, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Joseph. Sign up to share your harvest or your crafts, and look for more information at www.wallowacountyfarmersmarket.com.
