Exploring the Art of Quilting:
From Gee’s Bend to Your Story
Join us for a captivating lunchtime session as we explore the rich history and artistry of quilting, focusing on the renowned quilts of Gee’s Bend. We’ll begin with a presentation by Judy Allen on the history and unique techniques of these extraordinary quilts. Then, Eileen Trudeau (or a guest speaker if she’s unavailable) will discuss the evolution of quilting, showcasing her own work and offering a show-and-tell segment.
This event is interactive! We invite quilters of all levels to bring their own quilts for a show-and-tell session. It’s a wonderful opportunity to share your quilting journey, connect with other enthusiasts, and gain inspiration from each other’s work.
Come be a part of this special gathering of creativity, history, and community during your lunch hour!
Free and open to the public.
Light refreshments.

About Judy Allen:
I have experimented with quilt making over 25 years, with very precise designs moving toward abstract images. My recent time at the Gee’s Bend Quilters’ Retreat (Nov 2023) challenged me to create a narrative vision of Gee’s Bend set beside the Alabama River, honoring the profound persistence of black women to create art and support their families.
