Short films and slide shows are powerful forms of storytelling, allowing us to capture, distill, and communicate complex ideas and experiences.
In this workshop, we’ll walk through the process of creating a short film or slide show, covering genres, outlining, storyboarding, script writing, media elements, shot lists, editing, and more. We’ll focus on techniques that get good quality results given limited time and resources, but we’ll also lean into the fun to be had with this medium.
The first session is designed to help you plan and organize a project, while the second session concentrates on editing and production strategies. No special equipment is required, but participants are encouraged to take the opportunity to create a short as part of the class.
Jennifer Hobbs has been a writer and visual storyteller since middle school, and was a journalist for more than 20 years. She studied English and Biology at university, and has been involved with Fishtrap since 1999. She has participated in numerous film festivals, writes/directs plays, and loves working with different ages and stages throughout the community.
