Chamber Music Weekend Workshop and Concert
What is chamber music? Chamber music is classical music written to be played without a conductor and with only one player per part. Any person who can play classical music well enough to be alone on a part is welcome to apply, assuming that we can find chamber music written for the specific instrument and other players to fill out the ensemble. Unfortunately, space for pianists is very limited. If you have questions, please ask!
Cost of the weekend is $10. Lunches on Saturday and Sunday will be catered by Chuckwagon Sisters for an additional $20. Scholarships available on request. REGISTRATION CLOSES March 5.
The hours of the weekend workshop are listed below. Rehearsals and coaching will be scheduled within those time frames after registration is completed and participants have been placed in ensembles. If you have time constraints, please contact Lisa Robertson.
- Friday evening 4pm-9 pm
- Saturday, coaching and rehearsal from 10 am-5 pm and 7-9 pm.
- Sunday, coaching and rehearsal from 11am-1 pm. Concert at 2-4 pm.
Players will be assigned pieces to prepare in advance and be placed in ensembles of different sizes.
Coaching will be provided by Dr. James Cook, an outstanding pianist with 45+ years of experience in collaborative playing, as well as years of experience directing orchestras and bands. Younger ensembles will be coached as well by Dr. Lisa Robertson.
All ensembles will be encouraged to perform in a concert at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 15, at the Oddfellows Hall at the close of the workshop.
We are grateful for the generosity of the Associated Chamber Music Players for the support of this project.
