Brown Bag Lunch
Brown Bag is a free event that feature informal presentations and discussions on the first and third or more, Tuesday noons of each month. Today features:
Zumwalt Project Manager Jeff Fields will give a presentation on Nature Conservancy work and the condition of the prairie.
Over a 30-year career in natural resource management, Jeff Fields has worked for both public and private organizations, including the Rogue Institute for Ecology and Economy, the University of Idaho, the US Forest Service, the Weyerhaeuser Corporation, and the Government of Nepal’s Ministry of Forests (as a US Peace Corps volunteer). Jeff has a B.Sc. in Forest Management from the University of Wisconsin and an M.Sc. in Forest Resources from the University of Idaho.
Jeff’s Nature Conservancy work is focused on building and leading a strong program of grassland conservation in NE Oregon. A majority of this effort is focused on the 275,000 acres of privately owned grasslands north of the Wallowa Mountains, including The Nature Conservancy’s Zumwalt Prairie and Clear Lake Ridge Preserves. He works to build strong conservation partnerships with governmental and private stakeholders that own or influence private grassland conservation and management.
