Eleven of Wallowa County’s finest musicians will share their talents in a benefit concert for the Wallowa Buddhist Temple Guest House on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 4:00 pm. It will be held at the “Music House” at 81962 Black Marble Lane in Enterprise. This is the old Hayes homestead, which was restored by its current owners.
The lineup includes solo pianists Gail Swart and Seth Kinzie, guitarist Matt Harshman, folk artists Rich and Trilby Shirley, songwriters Janis Carper, Heidi Muller and Bob Webb, and Native American flutist Roger McGee. Rusty Woods and Jim Shelly will add some upright bass and percussion.
Admission is a suggested donation of $10 or more. Homemade desserts and beverages will be available at intermission. All money raised at the event will support the Wallowa Buddhist Temple’s construction of a guest house.
Funded entirely via donations, the small guest house is being built to provide overnight accommodations for the increasing number of people who wish to visit the temple for individual spiritual retreats, assisted by the temple's two monastics, Rev. Meido Tuttle and Rev. Clairissa Beattie. So far, sufficient funds have been raised to complete the weather-tight shell of the building and cover some of the interior work and exterior siding now underway. Additional funds are sought to help provide insulation, drywall, interior paint, and flooring. The Benefit Concert on August 25th provides an opportunity to contribute toward the completion of the guest house and enjoy some wonderful music and refreshments with friends.
