Beginning Blacksmithing Class with Peter Clark
The Josephy Center for Arts and Culture will host a beginning blacksmithing class with Peter Clark on Saturday, September 21 from 9 am-4 pm. The class will focus on building and maintaining coal and coke fires, hammer and anvil use and basic smithing techniques. All tools and materials are provided, and students will work on small projects to take home. No experience is necessary and beginners are welcome.
Peter Clark, owner of Ironwood Design, is an artist, a woodworker and a blacksmith. For over 30 years Peter has been creating fine furniture, sculpture, tools and functional art. Peter's work is inspired by simplicity and self reliance. He strives to capture the essence of a piece with simple, clean and polished lines.
Peter works and teaches blacksmithing as well as other traditional wood and metal arts in his studios in La Grande, Oregon and Rough and Ready, California.
