About René:
When René wanted to learn to fly she didn’t even know what side of the plane a pilot sat on. As soon as she started lessons, she knew this was the way she wanted to make a living and see the country. After flying professionally in Alaska for many years during the. 1980’s and ‘90’s, René took 30 years off to pursue other interests and work. Currently retired, she has returned to aviation, now in her own plane, and is getting to know our corner of the country from the air. She will share stories and insights from a life in the skies.
Rene’s Comments on her Horizon Lines Exhibit Artworks Below – Horizons here in our corner of NE Oregon often include wonderful and interesting terrain. Stand on the shoreline of Wallowa Lake and the natural horizon is hidden from view by Glacial Moraines and Mountains. On a walk across the Prairie, The Findley Buttes feature prominently in the distance. Living inland, I’ve come to realize that it can be years between my own sightings of a sunset on the perfectly flat horizon created by the ocean. Life is also such that the true horizon of the future is mostly obscured by the terrain negotiated on the varied terrain of my journey.
