Annual Wallowa County Stockgrowers Scholarship Dinner
The Wallowa County Agricultural Resource Foundation, the non-profit arm of the Wallowa County Stockgrowers, is again holding its fund-raising dinner on January 26th at Cloverleaf Hall.
This year the evening will include a prime rib dinner Catered by Apple Flat Catering, the 50/50 game, and our famous dessert auction. Doors open at 5:00 PM, and dinner at 6:00. Tickets can be purchased at the door: $25 for adults, $10 for kids 6-12, and 5 and under free.
The funds raised during the evening support the Wallowa County Stockgrowers' academic scholarships. These scholarships are given to local students pursuing a career in agriculture or a related field.
The scholarship program has been in place since the early 1970s. The Wallowa County Agricultural Resource Foundation (WCARF) is now the nonprofit foundation under the Stockgrowers group that makes donations to this scholarship fund tax deductible.
The money raised from this event determines how much the foundation will be able to present in scholarships this fall.
Last year $12,000 was given to three students, and over the past three years, the foundation has awarded $24,000.00 to 9 eligible applicants. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $4,000. These scholarships are very important in helping Wallowa County college students pursue their degrees. Money donated, in any amount, goes directly to the scholarship fund.
Everyone is invited to this Prime Rib dinner; you don’t need to be Wallowa County Stockgrowers to attend and enter into the fund, enjoy a great dinner and good fellowship, and join your table in purchasing the dessert of your choice. Some of the finest cooks in Wallowa County donate desserts to be auctioned off as desserts to top off the great dinner.
If you cannot attend but would still like to support the Wallowa County Stockgrowers scholarship, monetary donations may be sent to the Wallowa County Agricultural Resource Foundation, 668 NW 1st Street, Enterprise.
