Animal Encounters
Animals expand and inform our experience of the world, inspiring some of our most beloved and enduring tales. In this 90-minute workshop, you will learn from an expert storyteller, play with fables and other formats, and distill a favorite animal encounter (domestic, wild, or allegorical) into a short piece to share out loud. We will dig into the ingredients that build a memorable story, practice creating and delivering effective arcs, and explore how coexistence with animals impacts our lives and provides a rich trove of material to think, write, and talk about. No prior writing or public speaking experience required. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in the performance following the workshop.
