Agritourism Development Assistance Information Session
Business owners and tourism partners have an opportunity to receive free technical assistance to help launch and promote agritourism enterprises in Baker, Union and Wallowa counties. Agritourism refers to activities and venues that allow visitors to experience local foods and agricultural traditions. Examples include farm stands, pumpkin patches, corn mazes, farm/ranch tours, on-farm lodging, and restaurants and retail stores offering local foods.
Over the next fourteen months, Northeast Oregon Economic Development District (NEOEDD) will provide technical assistance to individual businesses to help them leverage agritourism assets into successful revenue-producing businesses. NEOEDD will also work with groups of businesses and tourism partners to develop shared promotions to increase the sale of local agricultural products and agritourism offerings.
Types of assistance will include:
• navigating regulatory, logistical, and financial challenges
• developing additional points of sale for agricultural products
• collecting and formatting information on agritourism products and services for shared promotions
• connecting with regional and statewide agritourism promotional and funding opportunities
Farm and ranch owners and tourism partners are invited to attend one of three upcoming agritourism development information sessions hosted by NEOEDD to learn more. The Enterprise session will be held on Thursday, November 7th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Fishtrap House, 400 E Grant Street. For more information or to RSVP, contact Sara Miller at 541 426 3598 or saramiller@neoedd.org.
