DESCRIPTION:The Josephy Center for Arts and Culture is pleased to announce the opening of its next exhibit\, "Rock\, Paper\, Scissors" on Sat.\, May 4 at 7 p.m. The exhibit features stone art by Brian Wizard of rural Wallowa County and Henrik Munk Soerensen of La Grande\, paper art by Cheri McGee of Enterprise\, and fiber art by Dawn Lepper of Enterprise. \n\nThe opening night at the Josephy Center\, 403 N. Main St.\, Joseph\, will include folk\, rock and Americana music by the band "Harry Dowerd and the Country Affairs"\, as well as a Native American flute performance by Roger McGee. \n\n\n\nThe evening also includes a no-host bar and complimentary appetizers. Admission is free\; a $5 donation is suggested. \n\nMartin Hamilton of Joseph and Lepper are serving as exhibit co-curators. \n\nThis is the first exhibit for Cheri McGee\, who has quietly been creating her works for the past 28 years. Her paper art is so unique that no name is known for the style of paper cutting that she employs. \n\nMcGee's framed pieces are created from thousands of tiny bits of paper carefully glued in place layer by layer and from intricate filigreed cuttings. Her works range from abstract and kaleidoscopic designs to traditional landscapes. \n\nLeper combines sewn fabric\, graphite and acrylics on canvas to create images of tools\, streetscapes and American life as colorful mixed media paintings. \n\nA native of Denmark\, Soerensen's three-dimensional sculptures include marble\, granite and other stones as well as wood and paint. \n\nSculptor Wizard uses Owyhee mudstone. The exhibit will include a collection of his stone sculptures that are based on the theme "Moon Whistling by on a Cloud."
