DESCRIPTION:The Wallowa Valley Music Alliance is excited to present the sixth annual fundraiser JUNIPER JAM - The sweetest little music festival in Eastern Oregon! The big event takes place on Saturday\, August 30\, 2014 (that's Labor Day Weekend) at the Wallowa County Fairgrounds in Enterprise\, Oregon. This fun-filled day of music starts at 1:00 PM and continues non-stop on two stages\, all day until about 10:00 PM. Festival-goers will enjoy many styles of music including folk\, country\, Americana and blues\, as well as great food and drink\, plus children's activities.\n\n\n\nAlthough the musical genres presented at JUNIPER JAM are varied\, the common thread is original music   honoring the song and its writer. "We're really thrilled with the diversity of bands playing this year\," says festival director Janis Carper. \n\n\n\nWe have some fantastic bands performing this year\," says festival director Janis Carper. "Filling the traditional western slot is Zoe Muth and the Lost High Rollers." First making her name in the Pacific Northwest\, where she's been called "Seattle's Emmylou\," and heralded as one of the best songwriters to come out of Washington State\, Muth has spent the last three years touring across the U.S. and Europe. She is now based in Austin\, Texas. Also from Washington is Seattle's Cody Beebe and the Crooks\, making rock music that is inspired by the frontier attitude of the American Heartland. When you hear their music\, you hear the West's Americana and blues roots. "We're also excited about Jeff Crosby and the Refugees\, a band based in L.A. but born in Idaho\," says Carper. "Excellent songwriting and really great performance." They deliver a sound that's reminiscent of The Byrds\, Crosby Stills and Nash\, James Taylor and other icons of rock\, folk and country rock.\n\n \n\nReturning to the festival is Union County favorite Bitterroot with their uplifting folk-roots-rock that always gets the audience dancing and singing along. New to JUNIPER JAM is the eclectic folk band Hollow Wood from Boise\, songwriter Kai Welch from Nashville (originally from Cove\, OR) and Seattle's Kathryn Claire\, plus local bands Saigon County and Sorry\, Neighbors. The opening round-robin set on the Tunesmith Stage will feature songwriters Heidi Muller (Enterprise)\, MidLo (Enterprise) and Tracy Spring (Bellingham\, WA).
