SUMMARY:Chili Feed at Lostine Tavern
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, January 18th at 12 p.m.\, the Lostine Tavern will open its doors to the community for a free-for-all CHILI FEED. The chili will be made using beef from Mountain Beef owned by Mark and Amy Ramsden with produce generously donated by June Colony and the Producer Network.\n\n\n\nWith renovations just underway\, the public is invited for a special sneak peek inside the historic building. They can view the newly exposed Bowlby stone and the framing for the new bathrooms and kitchen. Co-owners Peter Ferr and Lynne Curry will also share plans for the bar\, seating area and more. Everyone is strongly encouraged to dress warm\, since the building is unheated and to bring their family and friends. Also\, families with young children need to be aware that that the Lostine Tavern is currently a construction site.\n\n\n\nHot bowls of chili and cold beverages will be served--until they run out--for a voluntary donation to the building's Fa ade Fund. There is no charge to attend.\n\nIn October 2013\, the Lostine Tavern received a matching grant from the State Historic Preservation Office to restore the original storefront when the building operated as the drugstore known as McKenzie's Place at the turn of the 20th century. The co-owners plan to officially open the Lostine Tavern May 15\, 2014.
