DESCRIPTION:Brown Bag is a free event that feature informal presentations and discussions on the first and third or more\, Tuesday noons of each month.  Join us today with Presenter Joe Whittle says: "What you call resources\, we call relatives": Indigenous perspectives on protecting 'natural resources."\n\n \n\nJoe Whittle grew up in Wallowa County\, went to photography school in California\, and returned home to interpretive work for the US Forest Service. He has also explored his Native American roots and is enrolled Caddo/Delaware. \n\n \n\nIn addition to his seasonal government work\, Joe is gaining wide acclaim as a photo-journalist\, writing and photographing for The Guardian among others. He is involved with the Homeland Program in Wallowa\, and with education programs on natural resources and Tribal culture for local and visiting students. \n\n \n\nThis will be a slideshow presentation in which he explores Native American perspectives on protecting and engaging with the environment and its ecological systems.
