DESCRIPTION:2 Day Plein Air Painting Workshop\n\nwith Steven Hill\n\nWallowa Valley Arts Festival Week\n\nSeptember 17 & 18\, 2026\n\nWorkshop Fee: $250 plus painting materials for your selected medium.\n\n \n\nJoin Award Winning Plein Air Painter\, Steven R Hill for a 2 day instructional workshop in the beautiful Wallowa Valley at The Josephy Center for Arts and Culture\, Joseph Oregon.\n\nSteven will do his daily live demos in Pure Pigment Pastel and has extensive knowledge & experience to work with all liquid mediums to get successful results.\n\nYou will learn solid techniques for painting the landscape on-site\, especially how to simplify & edit subject matter while creating compelling compositions\, all while creating a successful painting in under two hours!\n\nSteven provides easy-to-follow\, live narrated painting demos each day and works tirelessly with all students at their easels to use new-found techniques for quickly getting to the essence of a landscape painting. Day 1 will be spent indoors at Josephy Art Center working from reference photos taken in the Wallowa Valley while learning valuable techniques to work in front of live subjects outdoors on Day 2 at nearby Wallowa Lake.\n\nOver the past two decades\, Steven has taught over100 plein air painting workshops around the U.S. and in Europe. Since 2003\, his plein air work has won more than 115 top tier awards in international juried painting competitions. \n\nHe is a member of the Salmagundi Club in NYC\, past president and signature member of the Northwest Pastel Society and signature member of the Puget Sound Group of Northwest Artists. He has been invited to teach two annual workshops at Dakota Art Center in Mt. Vernon\, WA for the past 21 consecutive years. He was selection and awards juror for the WVAF 2025 and has been invited to jury part of the WVAF again in 2026.\n\nAdults & Youth Ages 16 and up\n\nMinimum 5 students\, maximum 10 students\n\nPre-registration required*\n\nRegistration closes 48 hours prior to class start time.\n\n*No refunds after registration closes\, please plan accordingly.
