Worker's Compensation Workshop for Employers
Workers’ Compensation Workshop for Employers
Featuring Kelly O’Berg, Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division
When is a worker a legal contractor, and at what point should she or he become an employee? These and other questions will be answered at the Tomas Conference Room of the Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce (309 S River St., in Enterprise) on Wednesday, October 1, at 6 p.m. The Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce and Northeast Oregon Economic Development District (NEOEDD) are co-sponsoring a presentation by Kelly O'Berg, field investigator for the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Division. This workshop is designed to keep employers in compliance with the law and to answer their questions in a non-threatening environment.
O’Berg will discuss:
- The benefits of workers’ compensation insurance
- Employers and workers’ compensation
- What workers are excluded
- Workers’ compensation and independent contractors
O’Berg was a police officer for 23 years. After finishing his police career, he worked in Iraq on a three-year contract with the U.S. State Department, training and advising Iraqi police officers. In 2011, O’Berg joined Oregon’s Department of Consumer and Business Services, Workers’ Compensation Division, as a field investigator.
The Northeast Oregon Economic Development District’s mission is to provide resources and facilitate quality decision-making for the benefit of entrepreneurs, businesses and communities in Baker, Union, and Wallowa counties. Learn more about our programs and business support at www.neoedd.org.
