Paint Your Wagons!
Join us for an all-out day of artful fun and craziness. The Wallowa Valley Arts Council invites you to watch and/or participate in a judged event where vehicles of all kinds will be painted (with washable tempura paints) in any way you can imagine. All ages are welcome and all may participate.
Schedule:
- Painting -11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Will take place curbside in front of participating Joseph businesses
- Tour of motorized vehicles to Enterprise and back -depart at 3:30 p.m. Painted vehicles to assemble alongside the lot behind Indian Lodge Motel at 3:15 pm A team of 3 judges will determine 1st & 2nd place awards Vehicles will drive to Enterprise, circle courthouse, return to Joseph
- Community Picnic/Potluck -4:00 p.m. at Joseph City Park Everyone invited -please bring a dish to share Cash prizes of $50 and $25 will be presented for 1st & 2nd place painted results.
Joseph is well known as a place of the arts and has been named as Oregon's first city arts and cultural district '" let's demonstrate that to the public and let's celebrate!
People or businesses can sign up by calling Shelley at 541-432-9105 or Lyn at 541-432-0883. Water-based tempura paints will be mixed with liquid detergent for easy washing off later with a hose or by rain. Bring a vehicle, park it downtown on the morning of Aug. 23 and get creative! Paints and brushes will be supplied by the arts council. This project is funded by The Wildhorse Foundation to celebrate Joseph as a place of the arts!
