National Trails Day: West Fork Wallowa River Project
Trails: West Fork Wallowa River Trail #1820 Itinerary: Celebrate National Trails Day! We’ll start at 8:00 am at the Powerhouse TH, hiking along the West Fork Wallowa River Trail. We will hike, clearing the trail as we go, up 5 miles, where a large group of downed trees is blocking the trail. Bring your own lunch and water. Gear Packing List: Early summer-hot conditions with periods of intense sun exposure and variable weather. Bring sunscreen and lots of water. Crew Leader: Mike Hansen Difficulty Rating: Moderate You should have experience outdoors and be in good hiking condition with broken-in and tested gear. Hike: 3/5 Moderate: Gradual incline with some areas of steep incline. This trail can be rocky. Project Work: 4/5 Moderate-Strenuous: -- Cutting, moving, piling limbs and branches. Areas of tread repair and rock removal possible. Possible Hazards: Creek Crossings
